Level Crossing Removal Project

ALA Archaeologists recently worked alongside representatives of the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation on the Level Crossing Removal Project in Seaford. As part of its cultural heritage management plan, the Southern Program Alliance excavated six one-metre deep pits searching for artefacts along the Seaford rail corridor.

At one location the team found over 100 artefacts including stone tools. Artefacts are analysed, dated and stored helping to develop our understanding of the lives lived by generations of indigenous people in the Seaford area.
